Tamika Turner is a visionary entrepreneur, master barber, stylist, mentor, dynamic public speaker, devoted wife, and proud mom. With 24+ years of trailblazing experience, Tamika has revolutionized the beauty and barbering industry, making history by founding Tennessee's first freestanding Natural Hair School, The Institute of Beauty.

At The Institute of Beauty, our mission is rooted in the "Triple E Standard" – to educate, empower, and equip our students to become leaders in Natural Hair Care. Our cutting-edge curriculum and hands-on learning model are unmatched, and we’ve proudly graduated over 500 students with a 100% pass rate on the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology exams. #IOBTNWORKS is more than a hashtag; it’s a movement!

Since opening The Institute of Beauty in June 2016, Tamika has passionately filled the void in proper natural hair care education. This led to the birth of Edge Education, a 501(c)(3) organization that’s transforming the lives of girls and women by teaching them how to avoid traction alopecia, chemical damage, and poor hair hygiene. Edge Education isn’t just changing hair; it’s changing lives.

​From this powerful initiative, Tamika developed Scalptini, a game-changing product line born from her belief that "Healthy Hair begins with a Healthy Scalp." With the Scalp Refreshing Cleanser and Anti-Dandruff & Hair Follicle Stimulator, Tamika is helping countless individuals reclaim their confidence by revitalizing their scalp and promoting healthy hair growth.

Tamika’s impact doesn’t stop there. She’s forged groundbreaking partnerships with Memphis-Shelby County Schools CCTE, the Shelby County Office of Reentry, and the Shelby County Department of Corrections to extend her reach even further. And now, as a newly elected representative on the Tennessee Barbering and Cosmetology Board, appointed by Governor Bill Lee , Tamika is poised to influence the future of the industry on a whole new level.
